河合望（かわいのぞむ）

研究内容

　古代エジプト新王国時代の歴史、文化について考古学と文献史学の双方から研究しています。具体的には新王国時代第18王朝の所謂「アマルナ革命」後のツタンカーメン王の時代から第19王朝のラメセス２世の時代あたりまでの歴史と文化です。これまでテーベ（現在のルクソール）やサッカラなどの遺跡で新王国時代の墓の発掘調査に参加してきました。最近では、JICA（国際協力機構）の大エジプト博物館合同保存修復プロジェクトの一環としてツタンカーメン王のチャリオット（二輪馬車）をはじめとする対象遺物の考古学的研究をおこなっています。また、これまで精力的に調査が実施されてきたテーベの新王国時代の墓地に比べて調査が不十分であったサッカラ遺跡における新王国時代の墓地の調査を試み、2016年から調査を実施していますが、2019年にサッカラ遺跡で初のローマ支配時代のカタコンベ（地下集団埋葬墓）を発見しました。これを受けローマ支配時代における埋葬習慣や来世観についても新たな研究テーマとして取り組んでおります。
