Cultural Resource Studies Asian Linkage Building Seminar

Aiming at the linkage building of Asian cultural resources studies, funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), a series of lectures, seminar, excursion, and public symposium were carried out from February 18th through March 12th in 2010. Fourteen young researchers from Kanazawa University’s partner schools and institutions－Chiang Mai University (Thailand), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), University of Pune (India), University of Yangon (Myanmar), Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute of Archaeology (Vietnam), Institute of Technology, Bandung (Indonesia)－were invited to this event, where they actively exchanged their opinions. The results of the activities led to each participant’s presentation at the public symposium held in March 6th and 7th in the city of Kanazawa. The contents of the presentations, together with the special lecturers’ papers, were published as Cultural Resource Studies Asian Linkage Building Seminar 2010 Working Papers.

Student' Forum on Cultural Resource Studies in Asia

This seminar provided a total of 10 graduate students and teachers from four Asian countries (China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia) with opportunities to learn specific examples of efforts concerning the protection, inheritance, and utilization of cultural heritage in Japan, mainly in the city of Kanazawa, and to contact with or exchange opinions with Japanese students, researchers, administrative officers, and local people. It was conducted, funded by Japan Student Services Organization's "FY2011 International University Exchange Seminar." It was only an eleven-day stay, but full of activities: lectures, discussions, visits to museums and the ruins, interaction with local people, a symposium, and an excursion to Nara. The presentations made by graduate students in each country were published in Kanazawa University Cultural Resource Studies, No.3.
