JICA Training Program 2018, November 8

The delegation from Guatemala and Honduras continued their training program today in Kanazawa City. In the morning the participants visited the forest around Kanazawa University, which is called satoyama (border zone between mountain and arable flat land), guided by the Kanazawa Forest Owners’ Cooperative Association. Through this activity they were able to get an insight into Japanese forest management and do a comparison with the policies of their respective countries.

Afterwards, the participants were able to approach the subject of tangible cultural resources through a visit to some of the most well-known tourist attractions of the city, Kenrokuen, Kanazawa Castle and Omicho-market. Later they received a lecture in Kanazawa University Satellite Plaza by Mr. Kawakami, senior research fellow of PHP Department of Matsushita, about leadership. The day ended with group discussions and reflection regarding what was studied so that it may be incorporated later into the participants individual proposal to be presented on November 16.
