JICA Training Program 2018, November 10-12
During the weekend, the trainees from Honduras and Guatemala had the opportunity to explore Kanazawa more freely. On Saturday, they complemented the lectures by going to the 21st Century Museum, The Ishikawa Prefectural History Museum and a visit to Ono-District where they learned about soy sauce brewing. On Sunday, they visited Naga-machi, the Samurai House, Oyamajinja as well as experiencing the local cuisine.
Lectures continued early on Monday the 12th, starting with Mr. Hector Portillo from the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History who talked about how to better implement cultural heritage to create opportunities for development paying special attention to the importance of inter-institutional communication. Afterwards Mrs. Katherine Ellenhorst, coordinator for international relations, tourism and development for Nanto City, introduced the World Heritage Historical Villages of Gokayama which the trainees will visit on November 13.

In the afternoon, there was a courtesy visit to the Vice President of the University Prof. Yoshio Otani.

Lastly, the trainees participated in another interesting lecture by Mr. Akira Sawamura from the Faculty of Economics from University of Niigata who talked about the relationship between economy and the conservation of cultural heritage.
