JICA Training Program 2018, November 13-14
During November 13 and 14, the trainees from Guatemala and Honduras visited the historical villages of Gokayama and several locations in the Noto Peninsula. On the 13th the day began with a visit to Murakami Family House which is considered an important cultural property of Gokayama, followed by a visit to Ainokura Village (World Heritage Site). The participants studied the Gassho style architecture as well as other cultural resources representative of the area.
For lunch they experimented the local cuisine in dishes such as bear meat and mountain vegetables. Following, they visited Taira for a Japanese washi paper making experience. That night they stayed at a hotel in Wajima in the Noto Peninsula.

On the on November the 14th the trainees visited the rice terrace of Senmaida guided by personnel from Wajima City. Afterwards, they visited the Kanazawa University Campus of the Noto Peninsula for a lecture regarding the local traditional resources available by farming and fishing Sato Yama Sato Umi.

Later in the afternoon, we visited a local sake brewer of doburoku which is home brewed sake with solid grains of rice. Lastly, there was a lecture in Hakui City by Mr. Koyama regarding Noto-jima in Noto Peninsula and how daily life has the potential for becoming an attractive for tourists.
